Mia’s iPod Circa 2008

Audio week is back again, and the assignment bank is back in action. This week we are required to do 10 stars, with at least 5 dedicated to our character. While this assignment is not dedicated to Blair, it was still fun and worth 3 stars. The assignment was entitled So and So’s Greatest Hits. The task:┬áThere are some bands/musicians/artists out there who constantly make solid songs/albums. Using Audacity, pick a band/musician/artists and create a mash-up of what you consider to be some of their greatest hits. It needs to be at least 5 songs (if you can’t find 5, then they might not be as great of a band as your think they are) and at least 5 minutes, but feel free to go over if the music is groovin’. Upload to soundcloud and introduce us to your favorite band and their songs! Have fun!

Thanks assignment, I did actually have fun doing this. I decided to feature one of my favorite bands from my high school days (and even today) Boys Like Girls. Teenage Mia would be quite excited for this assignment, if you ask me. If you haven’t heard of them, you should look them up.

Using audacity, I took all of the songs I wanted to use and cut them into pieces. I then molded the pieces together to create one solid audio. My transitions could have been better, but overall I was pleased.

It was really hard to pick songs, because I love every single one, but these are the ones I chose off of Youtube

Up Against the Wall

The Great Escape

The First Time

Five Minutes to Midnight

Two Is Better Than One (feat Taylor Swift)

The process wasn’t difficult, but it was time consuming to edit the pieces to somewhat mesh together. It was also hard to pick just certain parts of the songs because all of the songs in entirety are amazing. This assignment pushed me, like all of the assignments do.

At one point, I accidentally deleted a section and couldn’t figure out what had happened. By the time I realized, I was angry and annoyed. I had to re upload one of the songs and recut it (after I had cut it PERFECTLY! ugh. Technology). However, I was able to cut it almost as perfectly again, and then all was well in my life.

I couldn’t upload to SoundCloud because of copyright (which we talked about last week and you can read my feelings on here), so I just uploaded it to my post instead. Hopefully the next sixish minutes will make you love Boys Like Girls just as much as I do.

I slowed it down quite a bit and was able to upload it to soundcloud!

3 stars down!

  1. I liked this! I also really liked your website! The colors are awesome! I can’t seem to get anything other than my hyperlink to change colors so I like that your “stars” wording is consistently gold like stars!

  2. Unfortunately, your audio didn’t play for me, but I had the copyright issue too. But my friend told me to adjust the pitch or tempo just a tad and it worked! I feel your pain and this advice allowed me to post on SoundCloud. I do like the song choices and I may come back on this page to hear what you’ve got! I do like how it was personal to you with the song choices being your throwbacks. Let me know if you get it on SoundCloud after doing the minor adjustments.

One little critique: on your page, the pink text is hard to read, so try going with maybe a darker shade of pink. Just a tiny note :)
